Who we are
The Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) is more than just a project, it is a commitment to transforming Uganda's road safety and traffic management. Founded in 2019 through a partnership between Joint Stock Company Global Security and the Government of Uganda, ITMS has rapidly grown into a comprehensive national initiative aimed at addressing the country's evolving security and transportation needs.
Our Vision To make every road in Uganda safer, every journey more efficient, and every community more secure.
Our Mission To integrate cutting-edge technology into the transport sector, improve public safety, and optimize traffic flow, thereby contributing to the country's socio-economic development.
Our Approach We adopt a multi-faceted approach to transportation safety, combining modern technology, data-driven strategies, and stakeholder collaboration.
The ITMS system encompasses:
- Digital Transformation: Utilizing AI, data analytics, and IoT to improve road safety and traffic management.
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Working closely with the Uganda Police Force and other agencies to support crime prevention.
- Community Engagement and Awareness: Promoting road safety and responsible driving through public campaigns and educational programs.
Project Timeline
Public roll out
Starting from November, 2024, VGS team started the new phase of the project for public motorcycles
In Country Production of the Number Plates
In the Summer, 2024, VGS team successfully launched domestic production of the Number Plates
Governmental roll out
During year 2023-24, VGS team started project implementation on governmental vehicles
Establishment of Command Center
In the Autumn, 2023, VGS team along with UPF ICT lunched ITMS Command Center at Naguru Police Headquarters
Project Contract Sign-off
An agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uganda and Global Security Limited was signed-off
